At around 11 years old, after being informed by my acrylic painting teacher that my interest in horror novels would lead to demonic possession, I decided that I needed to teach myself watercolours. They remain my medium of choice. My interest in sculpture began around the same time, after a Google search of my own name introduced me to the craft by chance. The next few years brought a series of melodramatic self-portraits that won first-place and best-of-show ribbons at the local fair, a row of disembodied clay heads on toothpicks that did not, and a publication in an online art magazine.
In recent years, my focus has shifted toward creating art for film. In 2025 I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production at Te Herenga Waka — Victoria University of Wellington, and was awarded the 2025 Prize for Film Studies. I have worked on over a dozen undergraduate, postgraduate and independent film productions in a range of art department roles, including set building and design, prop making, creature design and SFX. If I never stop putting strange things in front of cameras and painting little eyebrow hairs, I will be happy.
